We are a small, local team of experienced and trained hand therapists, who provide quality service and care. Our services are fully tailored to best support you on your path to recovery.
Where required, we will work closely with GP’s, surgeons, physiotherapists and other relevant health care professionals, to ensure you get the best possible outcome.

We are a Registered ACC provider, and with Restore Hand Therapy there is no ACC surcharge to pay.
No referral is required from your GP or any other specialist. You can simply book directly with us.

Step 1: Assessment of injury by qualified hand therapists
At Restore Hand Therapy we understand the importance of undertaking a thorough and comprehensive assessment of your injury. With our experience and expertise, we can diagnose your injury and determine if any other tendons, ligaments or joints are affected or contributing to your pain. If required, we can also refer you for an x-ray to a nearby clinic.
Step 2: Tailored support & recovery programme
Having completed the assessment, and as part of the initial first appointment, we will have identified any immediate need to provide support for the injured area (using soft or a firmer style of splint or brace). In addition, we will guide you on your initial home care activities. Our approach is to quickly assist and rest the injured area, which is a critical step in the initial recovery process.
Step 3: Progression back to work & daily activities
Our hand therapy approach often includes a range of rehabilitation and at-home exercises to develop the strength and mobility of the injured area. With our approach, we develop a customised plan that carefully supports rebuilding the injured soft tissue. With us, it’s about putting in place a structured and progressive plan to support your specific recovery requirements.

At Restore Hand Therapy, we provide quality care for all hand and forearm related injuries. Our treatment covers all types of injuries from the elbows to fingertips.
Our total care approach includes:
- An initial full assessment, to determine the level and extent of the injury, so that the most appropriate therapy and support is provided.
- We will take the time to explain our assessed findings, so that you have a clear picture and understanding of the injury, along with your likely recovery timeframe.
- We will discuss and recommend the most appropriate treatment options, including physical therapy, and soft tissue treatments, e.g. dry needling,
- We will also advise you, on whether a soft or more protective splint or brace is needed early on, to support your recovery. We have a wide range of soft (light to medium support options), along with full support options. If required, we can progress you through the level of support as quickly and effectively as possible.
As experienced hand therapists we have a range of physical therapy and treatment options to (1) assist with the recovery of your injury, and (2) support pain management.
Often, with the right level of treatment, combined with hand therapy and prescribed at-home exercises, we can progress you in an optimal manner along your path of recovery.
Our therapy options and services include:
- Dry needling therapy -to support the release of muscle tension and assist with pain management.
- Custom fitted splints & braces.
- Fitted casts – for fractures that need this level of support.
- Wound management, for less complex or intensive wounds.
- Referrals – for x-rays, plastic surgeons, and orthopaedic surgeons.
Customised rehabilitation and exercise programmes to correctly and progressively improve your injury back to ideal performance.

Affordable hand therapy
Our pricing & appointments
ACC Treatment | no surcharge applied
If approved by ACC, your treatment is fully covered, with no ACC surcharge, including splints & braces. Please note: ACC does not cover the cost of any exercise equipment, which is to be paid by the patient.
Length of appointments
Your first appointment will take 45 mins (approx.), where we will take the time to assess your injuries and determine best treatment / therapy options.
All follow up appointments are 30 mins.
Pricing for private patients (Non ACC)
Cost of your initial appointment: $110
Follow up Appointments: $90
Pricing excludes cost of splints & braces.

Restore Hand Therapy is based in Silverstream, Upper Hutt, with the clinic located directly opposite the Silverstream train station. That makes it simple and easy for those using public transport to visit our clinic.
In addition, we have parking on-site, in the car park next to Pet Vet.
We are open 5 days; our opening hours are:
- Mon – Thurs: 8.15am – 5.15pm
- Fri: 9.00am – 3.00pm
